High Priest of Israel

Ahimelech was a priest in the time of King Saul in the Hebrew Bible. He was the son of Ahitub, the brother of Ichabod, and the father of Abiathar. He was the High Priest of Nob, a city in the tribe of Benjamin. He is best known for his role in helping David when he was fleeing from Saul. When David arrived at Nob, Ahimelech was afraid of Saul and asked why David was alone. David lied and said he was on a secret mission from Saul. Ahimelech then gave David the holy bread and the sword of Goliath. He also gave David advice on how to escape from Saul. Ahimelech was later killed by Doeg the Edomite, who was sent by Saul to kill the priests of Nob. Ahimelech's son Abiathar escaped and joined David. Abiathar later became the High Priest of Israel. Ahimelech is remembered for his loyalty to God and his willingness to help David in his time of need. He is an example of faithfulness and courage in the face of danger.
