The story of Ephraim

Ephraim was the second son of Joseph and Asenath, and one of the twelve tribes of Israel. According to the Bible, he was born in Egypt and was adopted by Jacob as one of his own sons, along with his older brother Manasseh. Ephraim and Manasseh became the founders of two separate tribes, and Ephraim's descendants were known for their strength and prosperity. The tribe of Ephraim was allotted land in the central region of Canaan, near the modern-day city of Nablus, and played a prominent role in the history of ancient Israel. Ephraim is also mentioned in several prophetic passages in the Old Testament, where he is often used as a symbol for the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
