The story of Matthias

Matthias was one of the apostles of Jesus Christ. He is best known for being selected by lot to replace Judas Iscariot as one of the Twelve apostles after Judas betrayed Jesus and later killed himself. According to the Bible, Matthias was chosen through prayer and the casting of lots, as recorded in the book of Acts 1:23-26. He is considered one of the earliest Christians, and there are references to him in early Christian writings, but little else is known about him. It is believed that Matthias preached the Gospel and that he may have been martyred for his faith.
