According to the Bible, he was made king of Judah by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II. He was known for his rebellion against Babylon, which led to the destruction of the city of Jerusalem and the end of the kingdom of Judah. Zedekiah was captured by the Babylonians, and his sons were killed in front of him before his eyes were put out and he was taken captive to Babylon.
