2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellers, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

Daniel 3: The Fiery Furnace

King Nebuchadnezzar orders all people to worship a golden statue, but three Jewish youths refuse and are thrown into a fiery furnace. They are protected by God and survive the ordeal.

Commentary

Daniel chapter 3 is a powerful story of faith and courage in the face of overwhelming odds. It tells the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three Jewish men who were thrown into a fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar for refusing to bow down and worship a golden image. Despite the threat of death, the three men refused to bow down and instead chose to trust in God.
