Genesis 41 is a pivotal chapter in the book of Genesis, as it marks the beginning of Joseph's rise to power in Egypt. While in prison, Joseph interprets the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker, correctly predicting their outcomes. Impressed by Joseph's ability, Pharaoh's cupbearer recommends Joseph to Pharaoh, who then summons Joseph to interpret his own dreams. Joseph correctly interprets Pharaoh's dreams, predicting seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh is so impressed with Joseph's wisdom that he appoints him as the second-in-command of Egypt, giving him authority over all of Egypt.
