About Genesis 9: God's Covenant with Noah

Genesis 9: God's Covenant with Noah

God blessed the man and his family and told them to be fruitful and multiply. He also gave them permission to eat meat, but they had to drain the blood from it first. God also made a promise to never again destroy all life with a flood.

Commentary

Genesis 9 is the story of God's covenant with Noah and his descendants. After the great flood, God promises to never again destroy the earth with a flood. He also gives Noah and his descendants the authority to rule over the animals and to use them for food. This is the first time in the Bible that God gives humans authority over the animals.
