1Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

Commentary
John 13 is a chapter that speaks to the importance of humility and service. Jesus, knowing that his time on earth was coming to an end, humbled himself and washed the feet of his disciples. This act of service was a powerful demonstration of Jesus' love for his disciples and a reminder that we should all strive to serve one another. Jesus then goes on to explain that if we want to be great, we must be willing to serve others.
