What is Orion in the Bible?
A star group named in Job and Amos as a work of God's creation.
Orion is a constellation of stars named three times in the King James Bible, each time as part of God's creation. Job 9:9 names it with Arcturus, Pleiades and the chambers of the south as works that God makes.
Orion in the Bible
Job 38:31 asks, as a challenge, whether the one addressed can bind the sweet influences of Pleiades or loose the bands of Orion, a question that sets human weakness against God's power over the heavens. Amos 5:8 calls on the people to seek him that makes the seven stars and Orion, who turns the shadow of death into the morning, makes the day dark with night, and pours the waters of the sea upon the face of the earth, and it ends: The LORD is his name. Orion is a prominent constellation in the night sky, recognized by the three bright stars of its belt.
Scripture names it only to show God as its maker and ruler. It says nothing of the hunter of Greek legend.
