After the apostles return from their mission, Jesus takes them aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida (Luke 9:10). On another occasion he sends his disciples by ship ahead of him to the other side, toward Bethsaida, while he dismisses the crowd (Mark 6:45).
When Jesus comes to Bethsaida, people bring a blind man to him and beg him to touch him (Mark 8:22). Jesus also pronounces woe on Bethsaida together with Chorazin, saying that if the mighty works done there had been done in Tyre and Sidon, those cities would have repented in sackcloth and ashes (Matthew 11:21; Luke 10:13).
