Etham in the Bible
The list of camping places in Numbers gives the same order, from Succoth to Etham, and again describes Etham as being in the edge of the wilderness (Numbers 33:6). From Etham the people turned again to Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon, and camped before Migdol (Numbers 33:7). After passing through the midst of the sea, they went three days' journey in the wilderness of Etham and camped at Marah (Numbers 33:8), so the name also applies to the wilderness region beside the sea.
