About 1 Peter 5: Shepherds and Sheep

This chapter addresses the leadership in the community of believers, encouraging elders to lead with humility and care for the flock. The author also encourages all believers to submit to authority and to cast their anxieties on God.
Commentary
In 1 Peter 5, the apostle Peter continues to provide instruction and encouragement to the believers in the churches of Asia Minor. He begins by exhorting the elders to lead the flock of God with humility and diligence, and to be examples of faith and love. He then turns his attention to the younger members of the church, urging them to submit to the elders and to clothe themselves with humility. Peter also warns them to be on guard against the devil, who is like a roaring lion seeking to devour them.
