18For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
19While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

Commentary
In 2 Peter 2, the Apostle Peter continues his warning against false teachers. He begins by reminding his readers that God is patient and merciful, but that He will eventually punish those who reject Him. He then goes on to describe the false teachers as “irrational animals” who are “born to be caught and destroyed”. He warns that these false teachers will lead people astray and bring destruction upon themselves.
