Context: Ezekiel 3

2So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

3And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

4And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

5For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;

6Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

About Ezekiel 3: Ezekiel's Calling and Commission

Ezekiel 3: Ezekiel's Calling and Commission

In Ezekiel chapter 3, God calls and commissions Ezekiel as a prophet to the Israelites in exile. Ezekiel is given a scroll to eat, symbolizing the words of God that he will proclaim. He is also warned that the people will not listen to him because of their stubbornness and rebellion.

Commentary

Ezekiel's call to prophesy to the exiled Israelites was not an easy task. As a prophet, he was called to be a watchman who warned the people of impending danger and encouraged them to turn back to God. However, the people were stubborn and rebellious, which made it difficult for Ezekiel to get through to them. But despite the challenges, Ezekiel was faithful to his calling and continued to prophesy the word of God. This chapter teaches us that when God calls us to a task, He will equip us with everything we need to accomplish it, even in the face of opposition. We must also be willing to obey and faithfully fulfill our God-given assignments, regardless of the difficulty.
