Commentary
Joshua chapter 5 is a pivotal chapter in the book of Joshua. It marks the beginning of the Israelites’ conquest of the Promised Land. After the miraculous crossing of the Jordan River, Joshua leads the Israelites in a ceremony of circumcision, a sign of the covenant between God and the Israelites. This is followed by the celebration of the Passover, a reminder of the deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
