14In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.

15And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.

About Joshua 7: Achan's Sin

Joshua 7: Achan's Sin

Joshua's army is defeated at Ai because of Achan's disobedience.

Commentary

Joshua 7 is a chapter that speaks to the consequences of sin and the importance of obedience to God. In this chapter, the Israelites are defeated in battle against the city of Ai because of the sin of Achan. Achan had taken some of the spoils of Jericho, which was forbidden by God, and this sin caused the Israelites to be defeated. This is a reminder to us that sin has consequences and that we must be obedient to God's commands.
