About Revelation 16: The Seven Bowls of Wrath

Revelation 16: The Seven Bowls of Wrath

This chapter describes the pouring out of the seven bowls of wrath upon the earth. The chapter highlights the intensification of God's judgment and the need for repentance.

Commentary

Revelation 16 is a chapter of judgment and wrath. It is the sixth of seven bowls of God's wrath that are poured out on the earth. In this chapter, the first three bowls are poured out, and each one brings a different kind of judgment. The first bowl brings a painful and loathsome sore upon those who have the mark of the beast and worship his image. The second bowl brings the sea to become like the blood of a dead man, and every living creature in the sea dies. The third bowl brings the rivers and springs of water to become like the blood of a dead man, and many people die from the bitter water.
