About Exodus 32: The Golden Calf

The Israelites make a golden calf while Moses is on the mountain receiving the commandments. Moses breaks the tablets and asks God to forgive the Israelites.
Commentary
Exodus 32 is a pivotal chapter in the book of Exodus, as it marks a major turning point in the relationship between God and the Israelites. After the Israelites had been freed from slavery in Egypt, they had been given the Ten Commandments by God, and were now on their way to the Promised Land. However, while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments, the Israelites had become impatient and had fashioned a golden calf to worship.
