About Genesis 35: Jacob's Return to Bethel

God tells Jacob to move to Bethel and to get rid of foreign gods. Jacob renames the place Bethel and builds an altar to God.
Commentary
Genesis 35 is a pivotal chapter in the book of Genesis, as it marks a major transition in the life of Jacob. After a tumultuous period of conflict and deception, Jacob is finally reconciled with his brother Esau and is ready to move on with his life.
