About Luke 15: The Parable of the Lost Sheep

Jesus teaches about the Parable of the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, and the Prodigal Son.
Commentary
Luke 15 is a chapter that speaks to the heart of God's love for sinners. Jesus tells three parables that illustrate the joy of God when a sinner repents and returns to Him. The first parable is the parable of the lost sheep. Jesus explains that just as a shepherd will leave the ninety-nine sheep in the wilderness to search for the one lost sheep, so too will God leave the ninety-nine righteous to search for the one sinner who has gone astray. The second parable is the parable of the lost coin. Jesus explains that just as a woman will search diligently for a lost coin, so too will God search diligently for the lost sinner. The third parable is the parable of the prodigal son. Jesus explains that just as a father will welcome home his son who has gone astray, so too will God welcome home the sinner who has repented and returned to Him.
