Context: Psalms 83
5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
9Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
About Psalms 83: A Prayer for Deliverance from Enemies

Psalm 83 is a prayer for deliverance from enemies that surround Israel. It acknowledges the reality that Israel's enemies are many and powerful, but also affirms the belief that God is able to deliver them from harm. The psalmist pleads with God to show Himself and to bring an end to the attacks of those who seek to destroy Israel.
Commentary
This psalm is an urgent cry for help in the face of overwhelming adversity. The psalmist places complete trust in God's power and faithfulness to deliver them from harm, even in the face of seemingly impossible odds. It is a reminder that we too can turn to God in times of trouble and trust in His ability to deliver us. At the same time, it is a sobering reminder that the world is full of enemies who seek our destruction, both as individuals and as communities. We must remain vigilant and always be ready to call out to God for help in times of need.
